It Doesn't Really Taste Like . . . Dunkin' Donuts Dulce De Leche Cookie Coffee!

The Good: Aroma, Caffeinated.
The Bad: The flavor is not realistic for the claimed flavor, Comparatively pricy.
The Basics: Dunkin’ Donuts coffee makes a coffee that is not overly bitter, but not actually flavored like it is supposed to with its Dulce De Leche Cookie coffee.

Locally, there are no Dunkin' Donuts (reviewed here!), which is a very different thing for me. As a result, I find myself happy to occasionally pick up bags of Dunkin' Donuts coffee for my home brewing. This morning, I eagerly brewed up a pot of Dunkin' Donuts Dulce De Leche Cookie Coffee.

Dulce de leche cookie instantly conjured in my mind images of sweet, caramel cream cookies. As a result, there was a reasonable expectation that this coffee would be, at the very least, sweet. Alas, the Dunkin' Donuts Dulce De Leche Cookie coffee was, at best, not bitter. This was a very coffee-flavored coffee, so while it does not taste bad, it does not taste like cookies or anything sweet.

Basics

Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee has several different flavors and I found the bag of ground Dulce De Leche Cookie flavor coffee at my local grocery store as one of their new releases. The Dulce De Leche Cookie flavored Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee comes ground in a foil bag and the 11 oz. package we found was new for $8.50, which was a bit expensive for the coffee given that it does not actually taste like the promised flavor. The bright orange bag is easy enough to open and the eleven ounce standard package is resealable, thanks to a flat tie on the top of the bag.

Ease Of Preparation

Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee is easy-enough to prepare. Two oz. of the Dulce De Leche Cookie Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee brews up with 40 oz. of water to make a full pot of coffee. We brewed up our full pot in our Hamilton Beach coffee maker (reviewed here!). The Dulce De Leche Cookie coffee comes pre-ground and smells good and it is easy enough to scoop out and into a filter.

Taste

For a coffee that is intended to mimic a sweet, caramel cream-enhanced flavor, the scent of the Dulce De Leche Cookie coffee is remarkably strong of straightforward coffee. The coffee scent implies a fairly dark coffee blend, it is potent and coffee-scented. The aroma of the steam coming off the Dulce De Leche Coffee does not imply any sense of the flavor of the brew.

On the flavor front, the Dulce De Leche Cookie coffee is entirely unremarkable. The supposed sweet flavor one would assume from a Dulce De Leche Cookie does not directly manifest in this coffee's flavor. Instead, the Dulce De Leche Cookie coffee is a straightforward medium roast coffee blend that tastes like coffee without any bitterness as it finishes. Instead of being actually sweet or flavorful, the Dunkin' Donuts Dulce De Leche Cookie Coffee simply tastes like coffee that is not bitter, but is richly flavored like coffee.

The Dulce De Leche Cookie coffee does not have a discernible aftertaste.

Nutrition

The ingredients to this coffee are virtually undisclosed. The bag lists the ingredients as coffee and artificial flavor, but nothing more descriptive than that.

In terms of nutrition, this coffee lacks any. One 8 oz. mug of this coffee provides nothing of nutritional value to the drinker. There are no calories (save what one adds from sugar or milk), no fat, sodium, or protein. The caffeine, however, is strong enough to perk one up! This is an energizing beverage, which is nice.

Storage/Clean-up

Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee is very easy to clean up after - the coffee grounds may be disposed in the garbage, or composted if you have a good garden and/or compost pile. The coffee itself is a fairly dark coffee and it will stain delicate fabrics, so if it spills, it ought to be cleaned right off things like tablecloths or light cottons.

Dunkin’ Donuts does not make a recommendation on refrigerating the bag, but ours remained just fine out of the refrigerator. This flavor maintains its freshness well.

Overall

Dunkin’ Donuts Dulce De Leche Cookie coffee is all right, but because it does not live up to its promised flavor, it is impossible for me to recommend it.
