Smelly Cat Food For A Clean Cat That Will Devour It All! Meow Mix Pate Toppers Real Salmon Topped With Flakes Of Tuna Cat Food!

The Good: Nothing bad in it, Gollum loves it
The Bad: Comparatively expensive, Very smelly!
The Basics: Clearly made of real fish, Meow Mix Real Salmon Topped With Flakes Of Tuna catfood is one Gollum clearly recommends!

My wife recently found an online deal for free Meow Mix Pate Toppers, so we snagged our coupons and picked Gollum, our eight year old black cat up a few different flavors. The first one, which makes sense given how much Gollum loves seafood is Meow Mix Pate Toppers Real Salmon Topped With Flakes Of Tuna cat food. As it turns out, we picked this flavor up at the right time; Gollum was out of other food, so watching his reaction to the cups of Meow Mix Pate Toppers Real Salmon Topped With Flakes Of Tuna Cat Food the last few days has given me a clear sense of how much he likes this new food.

He loves it!

Basics

Meow Mix Pate Toppers comes in a plastic 2.75 oz. single serve container. Supposedly, Gollum for his weight and age should eat two of these containers per day! Even on sale, that would be a pricy endeavor, though $1.26/day for two cans might not seem pricy, it adds up compared to dry catfood that Gollum is used to. Each container I opened, Gollum came running to eat, something he has not done for dry food in . . . well, maybe ever!

Ease Of Preparation

The Real Salmon Topped With Flakes Of Tuna Pate Toppers opens up easily enough in the 2.75 oz. plastic container. The small plastic container has a thin foil lid that easily pulls off. Opening the container reveals the food inside. Pate Toppers Real Salmon Topped With Flakes Of Tuna looks like a semisolid block of meat pudding covered in shavings of tuna. This cat food may be dispensed into a cat's food dish by either smacking it against the bottom of the dish or spooning the contents out into the dish. Alternatively, this wet cat food may be eaten right out of the can as there are no sharp edges on the plastic.

Gollum’s Reaction

The Meow Mix Real Salmon Topped With Flakes Of Tuna Pate Toppers smells richly of fish. This has a powerful tuna smell that I can smell three rooms away (unfortunately). However, Gollum can smell it that far away, too and he comes eagerly running for it each and every time, so the smell only lasts about half an hour between the time I open the can and he finishes eating it all!

Nutrition

The Pate Toppers Real Salmon Topped With Flakes Of Tuna claims to be a great balance of nutrition and taste and it has nothing noticeable bad in it (I'm not a Chem student, so I can't speak for all of the preservatives). But considering that the primary ingredients are water, mackerel, and tuna Meow Mix seems to have its act together on making an essentially good product. According to the guaranteed analysis on the container, there is a minimum of 11% crude protein and 2.5% crude fat and no more than 1.5% crude fiber, 3.5% ash, and 78% moisture. This is food appears to be wheat-free.

The recommended serving size is two (2.75 oz.) cans per day, but I cannot afford to give Gollum this regularly. Hard catfood also has clear dental benefits that the Pate Toppers Real Salmon Topped With Flakes Of Tuna does not have. When the cats chew (to split into bite-sized pieces) their hard catfood, it scrapes plaque and tartar off their teeth. There is no such physical operation going on with this catfood. Gollum's mouth smelled like fish for several hours after he ate this food.

Overview

I am not wild about the environmental impact of these small containers (which are not locally recyclable, as they are #5’s). Still, Gollum has a clear preference for this food and as a once in a while soft catfood treat, it is hard to go wrong with the salmon and tuna Pate Toppers!
