A Perfect Ice Cream: Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie Ice Cream Is A Breyers Blasts! Success!

The Good: Yummy, Reasonably priced, Nothing bad in it
The Bad: None that I can find!
The Basics: Breyers Blasts Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie Ice Cream is flat out perfect.

Since I started reviewing ice creams, I’ve been waiting to find one that I might rate as perfect. With Breyers, I am thrilled to have found one! Sure, I might seem a little biased as I love mint chocolate foods, but the Breyers Blasts! Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie ice cream is absolutely wonderful. This is a perfect ice cream.

The Breyers Blasts’s Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie Ice Cream is a simple ice cream with two additives, a fudge swirl and Mrs. Fields brownie pieces.

Basics

Breyers Blasts ice cream comes in a typical half gallon container. The Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie Ice Cream is a chunky ice cream: the basic ice cream has the occasional fudge brownies, with many sizeable chunks of Mrs. Fields brownies in them.

At (locally) $5.99 a half gallon, the Breyers Blasts! ice cream is an affordable, mid-range ice cream.

Ease Of Preparation

The Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie Ice Cream is an ice cream. As an ice cream, preparation is ridiculously simple: one need only open the top of the container, scoop out a half cup and consume! There is no trick to preparing or eating the Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie Ice Cream.

Taste

The Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie ice cream opens up the nose completely with its peppermint aroma. The scent is fresh and minty and as the ice cream gets a little warmer, the scent of the fudge brownie actually does come out some.

In the mouth, the Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie is light, fresh and flavorfully minty. The chocolate fudge brownie pieces are surprisingly not dry and have a darker chocolate taste. The mint ice cream blends with the mint ice cream to create a chocolate mint flavor on the tongue that is both bold and peppy. The ice cream has an energizing ability that is not entirely muted by the fudge brownie in the ice cream. The occasional fudge swirl portion of the ice cream lightly flavors the delightful mint ice cream without making it seem heavier, as the brownie chunks do.

Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie ice cream surprisingly does not have a dry aftertaste and it is light and leaves the mouth feeling like one has brushed their teeth.

Nutrition

The Breyers Blasts Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie Ice Cream is a fairly heavy “frozen dairy dessert” with heavy additives. The half gallon represents twelve half-cup servings. In the half-cup serving, there are 140 calories, 35 of which are from fat. The four grams of fat represent 6% of the RDA of fat, with 12% of one’s RDA of saturated fat coming in the 2.5 grams of saturated fat in this ice cream. One serving has 10 mg of cholesterol (that’s 3% of the RDA!) and 50 mg of Sodium (2% RDA). The only other real nutrient is two grams of protein, though there is also 8% of the RDA of Calcium in the Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie Ice Cream.

Breyers Blasts! Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie has decent ingredients, too. Made primarily of Milk, sugar, and corn syrup the Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie is not, technically, an ice cream, though it sure mimics one well! There is nothing unpronounceable in the ingredients list. The Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie Breyers Blasts! is Kosher, but not gluten free. There are no allergy warnings on the package.

Storage/Clean-Up

Breyers Blasts ice cream is both a frozen and a dairy product, so it is pretty obvious that it must be kept frozen in order to remain viable. Kept frozen it remains fresh for months (my half gallon had an expiration date of January 16, 2013).

The Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie ice cream is fairly light frozen dairy dessert. However, when the ice cream melts and gets onto fabrics, it will require one to wash it right out. On nonporous surfaces, the ice cream wipes off exceptionally easily.

Overall

The Breyers Blasts Mrs. Fields Mint Fudge Brownie ice cream is less cake flavored (and not at all cookies and cream flavored) and more an embodiment of frosting flavored ice cream than anything else. That makes it an enjoyable novelty flavor, but not one I’ll regret the “limited edition” nature of and miss when it is gone.
